Tue Nov 27, 10:25 AM
by Kristen Westesen

Lindley/Bridger Creek buttons are now available for purchase at Bangtail and Northern Lights. Please show your support for groomed trails in our community and purchase a button.

Pricing: $25 for just one venue (Lindley or Bridger Creek) $50 for both venues

Keep in mind, supporting Nordic ski trail grooming in our community gets you even more than Lindley and Bridger Creek. The diligent groomers are also busy on Bozeman Creek, Hedvig’s Trail, and the East Gallatin Recreation Area.

The snow is falling … it’s time to pin on your button.

Masters training info

Mon Nov 19, 06:58 PM
by Timothy M. Weston

We are planning to have two sessions of ski training at West Yellowstone during Thanksgiving week:

Thursday, 9:00 am: Three Bear Hotel, classic.

Friday, 3:30pm: Three Bear Hotel, skating.

These session are, of course, weather dependent. As of now (Monday 6pm), the Rendezvous Trails are still completely bare. The forecast looks better for tonight and tomorrow, however the forecast has looked good for several days without any snow materializing. We’ll keep you updated.

Masters skiers: transition period

Sun Nov 11, 08:57 PM
by Dragan Danevski

Some advice for Masters who train with BSF program or for those who did conditioning on their own: November is transitioning period, you just finish your fall training and you have not yet started skiing. In my opinion trough this period you should try to maintain what you gained during summer and fall and not trying to “gain” more. Training should be lower by intensity and volume. Do training that your body will absorb energy and not deliver it. You should combine specific with general training. Roller skiing is good, but choose easier terrain and force more double poling for classic and V2 for skating. Running and hiking with ski poles is also good, but make it shorter. Cut your hours of training by 1/3, but not your days of training, except if you ski on snow. Make sure that you ski with low intensity.

If you ski in WY do not over do it and especially be careful with intensity, use lots of rest. Another practical advice, be patiened with skiing, do not start to chase snow all around the Continent. If you were doing regular strength training in the weight room, now take a short break, you will make it up trough double poling and V2. Last suggestion would be about health problems and/or injuries. You will not loose any of your fitness if you take care of your injuries. I suggest using appropriate therapy to heal your body, ski season will be long. I hope these suggestions will help you to get ready for the ski season, enjoy it and reach your goals.

Good luck.
