BSF Youth Ski League News and Information:

Thank you YSL parents, for giving us the opportunity to ski with your children this year—

· Thu Mar 5, 08:39 PM by Erich Pessl

This year, we tried to introduce the YSL kids to the BSF junior program through the Lindley World Cup races, and ski instruction for the older YSL skiers from BSF coaches and young BSF racers. We would like to encourage all YSL skiers who are 8 years or older by January 1, 2010 to consider entering the BSF J4 or J5 junior programs next winter. In those programs, the kids may ski 3-4 days/week and will concentrate more on learning the finer points of Nordic ski technique. They have the opportunity to race, but are absolutely not required to do so. Transportation is provided with program shuttle vans from BHS and Sacajawea Middle School. See the following webpage for more information http://www.bsfnordic.com/programs/j5j4j3.htm and feel free to email any of the BSF coaches with questions about the program.

Thank you for supporting your child’s interest in Nordic skiing. Through the BSF Nordic programs, we are able to get our kids outdoors for a substantial amount of time during the winter months, they get great exercise, and they learn the skills of a sport they can enjoy forever. Hopefully, too, through the Nordic program, your children make friends with other young people whose families value cross country skiing as a sport which fosters an appreciation of nature and is an activity that we can all do together as a family.

Have a great rest of the winter—and we hope that all of you will be back for more Nordic skiing next year. All the best—Erich Pessl, Dan Purpura, and Mary Maifield
