1 Workout Down, 18 To Go

· Mon Aug 4, 04:46 PM by Timothy M. Weston

I believe we have 9 “rookies” on this trip, as well as 20 “veterans” and 3 coaches. We all are enjoying the beauty of the Canadian Rockies thus far. Here is a photo that sorta sums up the area:

This picture was taken in the parking lot at the Canmore Nordic Centre, looking towards the stadium area. About 20 meters from where I took the photo, is the beginning of ~5km of paved trails where we rollerski. Since we are living all the way on the outskirts of Canmore, we have to drive a whopping 3-4 miles to get to the venue.

As you can see in the photo, this town takes nordic skiing seriously. We passed 2 groups of skiers out on the road this AM as we drove to train. Then there were another 6-8 biathletes training at the same time we did. And on the drive home? You guessed it, a couple more skiers on the paths. It is awesome to be in a community like this, and to be around other serious athletes.

The new accommodations are nice. We even have wireless. All the kids are eating well, and our grand total at the grocery store (2 trips already) is up around $750! That should get us through, oh about tomorrow…!
