GET EXCITED . . . WESTERN STATES YOUTH NORDIC FESTIVAL IS IN SUN VALLEY THIS YEAR! and all J5 second year, J4, and J3 skiers are invited/encouraged to go!!
Here is a little preliminary information for the trip:
1. Headbands – Anyone interested in making team headbands for the trip, please contact Kristen.
2. If you want to go – Please email Kristen – bsf_nordic@yahoo.com, I will need to know your skier’s full name and birth date and t-shirt size for registration.
3. Departure: from the High School at 7:00AM sharp on Friday, February 29th. Get there a little before to load up. Don’t be late; we can’t wait!
4. Return: late Sunday night, March 2nd. Your skier will call you from the bus when we get close to town so you’ll know when to meet us at the High School.
5. What to bring? In addition to the usual travel clothing, be sure to bring running shoes, your BSF ski clothes (Please label BSF clothes. We all have the same stuff), long underwear, hats, gloves, mittens, warm socks, extra socks, a warm coat, water bottle, a watch/alarm clock, homework, books. Please DO NOT BRING electronic devices other than music players. No video games, DVD players, etc.—it’s a BSF team travel policy. DO BRING movies to watch on the bus!
6. Traveling with skis very important In a ski bag, bring skate and classic poles, skate skis with glide wax left on (don’t scrape it off). We call this travel wax. It protects the ski bases from damage in transit. Also bring classic skis with glide wax and CLEAN kick-zones (no old kick wax left on), clean side-walls and glide wax on glide-zones only.
7. Race Waxes Will be provided by BSF.
8. Food: Bring sack lunch and snacks for the bus ride on Friday; cost for dinner on Friday is included in fees (so we can pay as a team). Bring money for dinner Sunday on the return trip from McCall. Breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday are included in fees.
9. Cost for the trip will be similar to last year, with details in an upcoming email. The more skiers we bring, the lower the cost for lodging and travel in that beautiful, big, safe Karst Stage!
10. Coaches for the adventure: Kristen and Gro and others tbd.
The BSF Nordic Board is kicking in $1000 from funds raised through the BSF Auction to help with our transportation expenses. Thanks to everyone who supported the auction!!!
We will not be able to accommodate parents traveling with the team. Complete payment must be received in advance to travel with the team—no exceptions.
