YSL Parents and Children

Dear YSL parents and young skiers,
We are glad that your child is registered for Nordic skiing lessons with us this winter. We have had a great start to our ski season so far and we look forward to continuing that with your child this year.
We look forward to seeing you at the first YSL session on Saturday Jan. 5th at Bohart or Wednesday Jan. 9 at Lindley Park. Remember for Wednesday sessions, we meet at the parking lot east of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, not at the Lindley Center. Please arrive early enough to have your child in his/her skis ready to go at 4pm for Wed. session (10am for Saturday session). We will have the kids back at the same site at 5:15pm on Wednesdays, 11:30 on Saturdays.
Remember to give your child something to eat and drink before their session as that may determine whether they are able to stay warm and have the energy to enjoy the day.
We would like to teach all children classic ski technique on some days (even children who are interested in skate-skiing). So, if your child has smooth-bottomed, “combi” or skate skis (rather than waxless), please provide them with some kick wax (purple works). Also, after classes, clean their ski bottoms with wax remover in preparation for the following session when we may be teaching skate skiing. Also, don’t forget to make sure that all equipment from last year fits and is in working order before arriving for our first day of instruction.
If you have a moment, please email me (or Dan for Saturday group), with your child’s ski ability: beginner/intermediate, classic/skate skiing, or both (epessl@aol.com, danpurpura@earthlink.net).
We will be posting program updates periodically on the BSF website, www.bsfnordic.com. Click on “news” on the left side of the page, then “YSL“at the top right side of the page.
Have a great Holiday. See you next week.
